FAQ
The 10 questions ZN ERP users ask most often, with one-paragraph answers.
Frequently Asked Questions
The 10 questions our support team is asked most often. If your answer is not here, try Troubleshooting or contact us.
1. What versions of Windows is ZN ERP supported on?
Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit) for client machines. The server can run on Windows 10/11 or Windows Server 2016 and above. See System Requirements for the full list.
2. Where is my data stored? Is it safe?
Your data lives in a SQL Server database on the machine you nominated as the server. Backups can go to a local folder, a network share, or Google Drive. See How to Take a Backup for the recommended schedule.
3. I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
An admin user can reset any user's password from Standard Users under Administration & Setup. If the admin password itself is lost, contact support — we will verify ownership and help you recover access.
4. My license has expired / says "License Expired". What do I do?
Open the Xn Licensing screen, confirm your Lic Name and Lic Type, then renew through your support contact. After renewal, click View Existing Lic Key → Register — you should see "Registered Successfully".
5. Why does the screen say "Day Closure done. Closing Now"?
That date has already been locked by an end-of-day run. To post on a locked date, an admin must reopen the day from Day Closure — only do this if absolutely needed, because reports for that date will change.
6. Why am I getting "Stock Out Not Allowed" on an invoice?
Your location is configured to block negative stock for that item. Either receive stock first (purchase / transfer), correct the batch quantity, or have an admin temporarily allow stock-out for that user.
7. My GST report total does not match my sales total. What is wrong?
Common causes: an item is missing a tax structure, a customer is tagged as out-of-state but their GSTIN says otherwise, or returns of a prior month were posted in the current month. Run GST Reports → S2b and Item to drill down.
8. The application is slow / freezes. What should I check first?
1) Confirm the SQL Server service is running on the server. 2) Confirm the client can ping the server by name (not just IP). 3) Disable real-time scanning on the ZN ERP install folder — see Anti-Virus Blocking.
9. Can I run ZN ERP on a laptop without a server?
Yes — choose SQL Server LocalDB during install. This is fine for a single-user setup, but you cannot share data with other machines in this mode.
10. How do I get phone support?
See the numbers on Contact. Active support-agreement customers get a priority line; everyone else uses the standard line during business hours (Mon–Sat, 9:30 to 18:30 IST).
