Purchase & Sales
Day-to-day transactions, POs, and sales / purchase analytics.
Purchase & Sales
This module covers everything you buy and everything you sell — the commercial cycle. Transactions holds the day-to-day invoices and returns that change ownership of goods. Purchase Orders manages the supplier-facing side of procurement. Analysis is the readout that owners and category managers live in.
Concepts to know first
- Rate standard — a named price book (Retail, Wholesale, Distributor). Customer ledgers pick one as default.
- Tax structure — a named CGST+SGST+IGST combination. Invoices pick by HSN / customer location.
- Document chain — Quotation → Sales Order → Delivery Challan → Sales Invoice. You can enter at any node; the system links the chain.
- Return-against-invoice — Sales Return must reference its original invoice so credit-note value and tax reverse correctly.
Typical daily flow
- Receive goods through GRN against an open PO.
- Sell through Sales Invoice at the counter or to a customer.
- Handle returns / replacements via Sales Return and Purchase Return.
- End of week: review the PO Tracker; expedite or close ageing POs.
- End of month: review Margin Analysis and the top / bottom items.
Credit note vs sales return — a Sales Return is for goods physically coming back. A Credit Note is a value-only adjustment (price correction, goodwill). Use the right one or your stock will drift.
