How to Register & Login

From a fresh install to a working logged-in session.

Purpose

Take a brand-new ZN ERP installation through datacenter selection, Xn-Talk-ID registration and the first administrator login. This is the very first thing you do after the installer finishes, and you only do it once per machine — the resulting Xn-Talk-ID becomes your permanent identifier for licensing, online support and Xn-Talk messaging.

Before you begin

  • ZN ERP installed via XnInstaller (see Installation & Setup).
  • SQL Server (or LocalDB) running and reachable from this machine.
  • Mobile number and email reachable for OTP / verification.
  • GSTIN, full registered address and a contact person decided in advance — you cannot change them silently later.
  • Anti-virus exception for the ZN ERP install folder (otherwise the first login can hang on file access).

Steps

  1. Launch ZN ERP from the desktop shortcut. The splash screen shows the build number — note it for support calls.
  2. In the Datacenter Selection dialog, click New and create a datacenter pointing at your SQL Server instance. Use Test Connection — do not save until the test is green. See Datacenter Selection.
  3. Highlight the new datacenter and click Select. The app connects, runs any pending schema updates and shows progress; on a fresh database this can take a minute or two.
  4. The Register New Xn-Talk-ID wizard appears. Walk through all six steps in order — business name & contact person, business type, business category, address (country / state / city), contact + captcha (tel / email / mobile), then KTP (Key-to-Proceed) verification. See Register New Xn-Talk-ID.
  5. On success, the screen displays your permanent Xn-Talk-ID. Screenshot it — you will need it for every support interaction.
  6. At the login screen, pick User Type = Administrator.
  7. Enter the default LoginID and password supplied by your installer, choose the Location, and click Login.
  8. The system forces a password change — pick a strong password (at least 10 characters, mix of cases and digits). You now land on the Home screen.

What success looks like

  • Your Xn-Talk-ID is displayed in the title bar and on the About Us screen.
  • The Start menu (Xn button) opens and shows the full module tree.
  • Pinging the Xn-Talk panel from another logged-in user reaches your machine.

Troubleshooting

"Cannot connect to SQL Server" during Test Connection.
Check that the SQL Server service is running (services.msc → SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)) and that TCP/IP is enabled in SQL Server Configuration Manager. Confirm the instance name and that port 1433 is open in Windows Firewall.
Registration wizard rejects your mobile / email at Step 5.
ZN-Talk validates the OTP delivered to the number / email you entered. Check the OTP, wait for the cooldown, then click Resend. Some corporate firewalls block the OTP SMS / SMTP gateway — try a personal email / mobile.
"This machine is already registered" message.
The hardware fingerprint matches an existing Xn-Talk-ID. Call support with the old Xn-Talk-ID before re-registering, or you may end up with duplicate billing entries.
Login hangs after entering credentials.
Anti-virus is scanning the install folder. Add the ZN ERP folder to AV exclusions (see Anti-Virus Exclusion) and restart the app.

Tips

  • Screenshot the final Xn-Talk-ID screen — you will need it every time you raise a support ticket.
  • Add at least one non-admin user via Manage User Access before letting other staff use the machine — never share the Administrator login.
  • The first administrator password is the master — if you lose it the only recovery is a database-level reset, which support has to do.
  • Warning. The business name and GSTIN entered in registration are printed on every invoice. Triple-check the spelling before clicking Submit on Step 1.
